Garbage Management Plan Required by MARPOL 73/78

MARPOL 73/78 states that every ship 400 gross tons and above and every ship which is certified to carry 15 persons or more shall carry a Garbage Management Plan which provides written procedures for the storing, processing and disposal of garbage. Additionally, MARPOL 73/78 requires that every ship 12 meters or more in length display placards to notify the crew and passengers of the rules governing the disposal of garbage.

Hudson Marine Management Services (HMMS) has developed a Garbage Management Plan that covers the requirements stated above. This "poster" serves both as the Placard and the Plan all in one laminated document that can be displayed anywhere on the ship.

A few details, which are specific for each ship, must be provided before such a plan can be produced. The details are:

Hudson Marine Management Services (HMMS) will complete and return a Garbage Management Plan within two (2) weeks.
